The teapot is made of a buff stoneware clay. The teapot is colored with my Shino gloss glaze, outside, satin matte inside and the cover is glazed with a deep brown tenmoku glaze. The teapot is not meant for stovetop use but for brewing and serving tea or coffee. I use one of my teapots to brew coffee with a brewing bowl and filter. However the teapot works well in the microwave. 2 minutes with a full pot works well in our microwave.
The teapot weighs 1 lbs 4 oz without packaging. The teapot holds 16oz or 2 cups and measures 8 inches across the handle, 4-1/2 inches in diameter and 4-3/4 inches high. If it is tipped to get the last drop, hold or remove the cover.
