This is a large cup and holds a pint. The cup is made from a buff stoneware clay. The glazes I used were applied at a workshop, so the glazes are not mine. The cup was immersed in a white, opal glaze. Then, the outside was immersed in a black glaze over the carved work on the outside of the cup. Inexplicably, the kiln turned the workshop's black glaze to a dark blue. Kilns play tricks on potters all the time.
A tankard is a brit term for a beer mug. I like the term. If I have a 'beah' (as beer is said aroud heah'), I prefer a mug like this...a tankard...although, this tankard will serve a tank of soup, coffee or tea. Personally, I prefer a brown or red ale.
The tankard's dimensions are 4"dia x 4-1/2"H. The cup weighs 1 lb. 1/8 oz. without packing.
