A TANKARD. It holds 1 pint. The cup is made from a buff stoneware clay. The inside is glazed with light tan colored glaze while the outside is glazed with a gloss rutile opaque glaze.
I've called this a tankard because I used the design I've seen elsewhere for what's called a tankard by the Brits. I like their style. Tankards were made in colonial America too. As in Britain, at the time, they were simple cylenders with handles of various precise capacities, like a pint.
The tankard's or cup's dimensions are 3-1/2"dia x 4-3/4"H. The cup weighs 15 oz. without packing.
